About Us
A New Lens on Mid-Century
Designer and Craftsman Justin Hossle is a self-taught woodworker, specializing in building handcrafted modern and mid-century modern designs, bringing his unique style to each piece. He aims to offer furniture that will last for generations using natural, sustainable materials, and designs that will stand the test of time. Relic Modern operates out of a 2,000 square foot studio in the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District, taking inspiration from a community of artists. His work has earned numerous awards and public commissions, and can be found at art shows and retail locations throughout the country.
Our Design Philosophy
Functional minimalism guides the Relic Modern design approach. We start by taking inspiration from classic designs and paring back to just the essentials. The form of our designs is amplified by the geometry and texture of our high-quality woods. As a result, each piece is distinct, sustainably crafted and built to endure generations of use. We’re proud to offer designs that outlast trends, ensuring they’ll act as strong centerpieces of your home in any era.
In our collection, you’ll find an escape from assembly-line produced, particle board furniture or passing fads that you’ll be itching to re-sell within five years. Each item is designed to be as beautiful today as it will be in decades, leaving you with something that you’ll be eager to pass on to the next generation.
Our furniture is inspired by the past, and built for the future.
