Lead Times

The truth is, good furniture takes time.

Every Relic Modern™ piece is built by me, start to finish, in my Minneapolis studio — no warehouse, no assembly line. I select and mill the lumber, join, sand, and finish each piece by hand. That care takes time, but it's also why the wait exists: it's the difference between something pulled off a shelf and something built for you, by hand, meant to last generations.

Modern Design Meets Mid-Century Inspiration

Our furniture draws inspiration from the past while embracing a timeless aesthetic. A reflection of mid-century elegance and Scandinavian minimalism. Each piece is crafted with purpose and precision—thoughtfully designed, deeply personal, and built for generations.

What if I need customizations on a furniture piece?

Almost all of our furniture pieces can be customized to fit your specific needs. We want to create an heirloom piece that fits your life, and we look forward to fine tuning your relic to your specifications. Sizing, hardware, and wood tones are some of our most common alterations - don’t be afraid to ask for what you need! Reach out to us to start the conversation.

How do I measure for the furniture pieces?

First, measure the width, height and depth of the intended location for the furniture piece. Take note of any outlets, vents, switches, or baseboards that might affect the placement. Outlets can be blocked - but if you need to get to them, we can add access holes into the back of case goods - like our media consoles. While we’re not HVAC experts, we’d strongly recommend not blocking any vents.

Second, make sure to take detailed measurements starting from the street of the location to the final destination of the piece. Check to make sure gates, hallways, and doors are wide enough, and that all tight corners between rooms can be managed. A long piece of furniture can often be set on its side to help with tight corners, like in the case of our media console or sideboard, but our 6’x6’ bookcase is less forgiving in tight spaces.

If you’ve got a space that’s perfect for one of our furniture pieces, but the measurements don’t add up, reach out to us. We can likely make some adjustments!

How do I care for the furniture?
  1. Moisture and heat can and will damage wood finishes. Use coasters and trivets. Wipe up spills and dry with a cloth.
  2. Wood will expand and contract with seasonal humidity changes. Maintain a constant humidity level in your house to minimize movement and prevent warping.
  3. Air and sunlight, over time, will change the color of natural wood. Consider rotating your item occasionally.
  4. (Waxed items can be treated every six months or so with a coat of Howard® Products Feed-N-Wax.
  5. Waxed and oiled items can be cleaned with a damp cloth as needed. Wipe dry. Do not use furniture polishes or harsh chemicals.
